Where Visitors Come From

Missouri's central location and its borders with eight states create multiple cross-border corridors:

  • Kansas — No legal cannabis at all. State Line Road in KC is the #1 cross-border destination.
  • Illinois — Legal but taxes are 26-41%. Missouri's prices are dramatically lower. St. Louis dispensaries draw heavy IL traffic.
  • Arkansas — Medical-only program. Flora Farms Pineville serves AR visitors near the border.
  • Oklahoma — Medical-only recreational. Joplin-area dispensaries serve OK visitors via I-44.

Visitor Tips

Delivery to Hotels

Missouri allows cannabis delivery to non-residents at any physical address, including hotels and vacation rentals. You do not need to visit a dispensary in person if delivery is available in your area.

Bring Cash

Cash is the safest payment method. Many dispensaries accept debit, but cash works everywhere. ATMs are on-site at most locations ($3-5 fee). Budget for 6-9% tax depending on the jurisdiction.

Start Low, Go Slow

If you are new to cannabis, ask your budtender for a low-dose recommendation. Start with 5mg THC or less for edibles. Wait at least 2 hours before taking more. Visit TryCannabis.org for dosing guidance.

Do NOT Cross State Lines

Cannabis cannot leave Missouri. Transporting cannabis across any state line is a federal crime — even into states where cannabis is also legal. Consume your purchase before leaving Missouri.

Lake of the Ozarks & Beyond

Missouri's cannabis tourism extends beyond the border towns. The Lake of the Ozarks region has embraced cannabis tourism alongside its traditional lake resort culture, with dispensaries, cannabis-friendly accommodations, and annual events like MOCANNAFEST (entering its 17th year). The state's festivals, from Mid-Mo Hash Cup in Columbia to Croptoberfest in Urich, add a seasonal dimension to Missouri cannabis tourism.
